| Dead Kitty Records 001 review by AmunRa Label: Dead Kitty Records Website: http://www.bonehead.nl Format: digital Review: Dead Kitty Records is a new digital label that offers releases based on quality not quantity according to their Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/deadkittyrecords I was lucky enough to have this album passed along to me thanks to my wonderful contacts here at Rave-O-Lution for the chance to review this release. Dead Kitty brings the sounds of Frenchcore, UK Hardcore, Terror, and my guess is probably everything in-between with how this release sounds already. First on the chopping block is a track called Break This Track Up, by Bonehead. Bonehead - Break This Track Up Bonehead really uses systematization on the track to bring out the sample from the 90’s track Break Stuff by Limp Bizkit - This track, the sample at least for the moment, is one of those Iconic 90’s rock track that came out at a time where shit was just going down and being a cynical asshole was a great way to rock the fuck out. And not much has changed today as in those of yesteryear. This track really speaks to me especially when growing up in a generation of cynicism from the 90’s this is definitely a floor killer. The energy involved and beloved within a modernization of a rock anthem infused with hardcore really says I have a shelf life within dance music. The over all production value could be dealt with a little better in my honest opinion, there are moments where the variation of the track become stale, but this can be mixed out while playing this track out. Chem D - The Joke I will be honest, I know nothing about Chem D, I just know he sounds very microtronic and very Deathchant, Rebelscum era hardcore which I fan-fucking-tastic love. In fact this track sounds like there is some serious UK Influence involved. The over all feeling gets your blood flowing, the rhythmic interludes and samples really make this a fun track to listen to and head bang too. The Joke is a very strong track for the start of a new label to lead off on. Explicit - Get Crunked A Hip Hop flare always makes me happy in Hardcore music, there is just something so simplistic and evolutionary in a track that really takes infusion to another level while keeping a very dark and sinister undertone such as Get Crunked. In fact, this reminds me of a few nights ago where me and my girlfriend went out for dinner to this place in Toronto, and we walked in and they were playing some seriously crazy Hip Hop where you just wanted to get your Crunk on. This track has the same feeling for sure, along with some savage kicks and insane builds again provide the first album with strong leads in a first release. Bonehead - How Low Can Bitches Go I really can’t reiterate how much I love it when Hardcore infuses Hip Hop into its elements and this track just does it right. What Boneheads previous release on this album lacked, he makes up for in this track! This one here you turn it up when your mom and dad go out and blast it till your walls start bleeding paint chips. From the bass, to the kicks, to the samples this track really just speaks get your ass out there and fucking dance because tomorrow you’re going to die. With a really strong flavor involved in creating this album, you can see why the labels motto is “Quality over Quantity”. Sometimes in the Music business we often forget that quality takes time, and while we may be rushed by deadlines and various other aspects of our lives, we shouldn’t forget that what we pour into our projects, our work, our lives, our friends or our family speaks louder than pushing everything out the door in one lump sum. For an introductory album I really think this album deserves a 4.5 out of 5, for just how fun it is to listen too and how much people will play the tracks out from this release I feel we will see a considerable amount of play from its fans and DJ’s alike.
